The conversion of electrical signals into optical ones and vice versa is necessary when data has to be delivered via fiber-optic links. Typically, for such application relatively big, heavy transceivers (SFP) are used, which take much space on printed circuit boards. The increased focus on reduced weight and size technologies, has led Glenair to develop a revolutionary new optoelectronic (photonic) product series. Small form-factor opto-electronic solutions are offered for harsh-environment Ethernet, video, high-speed data, and signal aggregation. The transceivers are fully compatible with SFP and its testing proved them to fulfill the harshest requirements. They are ruggedized for resistance to high vibration and shock at temperature extremes from -40°C to +85°C and thus confirm with MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-461, DO-160 and some other standards.
The PCB transceivers provide a high speed connection to printed circuit board and specially designed, ultra light and highly robust fiber interface, as well as support high speed balanced signals (for example 4B/5B, 8B/10B, 62B/64B etc), fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10G Ethernet Fiber Channel (1X, 2X, 4X, 8X), ARINC 818, AFDX, SFPDP, Serial Rapid I/O (sRIO). HD video can be transmitted as well: DVI, ARINC 818, SMPTE (SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI).
Glenair offers integration of electronics or optoelectronics into rugged custom packages and cable assemblies per customer and application requirements.
